Job Description

Community Connector


Report to: Day-to-Day supervision of the Community Connector will be provided by the Manager of Families First from South London Neighbourhood Resource Centre. The Community Connector will be an employee of the South London Neighbourhood Resource Centre or an agency member of the Family Centre Westminster Community Action Team.


Educational Qualifications: Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in a relevant field / Diploma or degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to Communication, Family and Community Services.



Hours: 37.5 hours a week [Hours will be dictated by programs offered at the Family Centre Westminster which will include some evenings and possibly Saturdays. Closed last two weeks of August and during Christmas closure for SLNRC.


Duties: The Community Connector will support a warm and welcoming environment that is the first point of contact for the Family Centre participants. The Community Connector will be the information liaison for the participants and simplify referrals to programs and services.



Communication Management lead role

* Create and maintain comprehensive monthly calendar and post where necessary.

* Communicate regularly with SLNRC social media staff to promote programs. * Maintain communication through the email.

* Present at all Westminster Community Action Team meetings the voice of the community.

* Attend all Community Connector meetings lead through the FCSS.

* Lead the Community Connector in house team meetings on a regular basis.

* Update and maintain digital sign.


General Community Connector role

* Responsible for main reception/resource area including greeting and providing seamless connections to appropriate programs and services.

* Collection and maintenance of resources including current community mapping.

* Ensure the smooth operation of transitioning programs and services within the centre.

* Collect, input and maintain statistical data for reporting purposes.

* Provide site tours for community members and service providers as needed.

* Answer all incoming phone calls while providing service information as needed.

* Support partner’s access to photocopier; inter professional lounge and all supplies at the family centre used for service delivery.

* Work alongside families to identify the programs and services that are of interest and importance to their lives.

* Receive and sort mail and deliveries as needed.

* Maintain an information board of programs and services offered at the Family Centre.

* Monitor and maintain office equipment that is signed out by partners (ie IPADS).

* Support partners in use of all equipment including (technology. kitchen equipment, washer dryer).

* Participate in community connector professional development opportunities.


Call for nominations for high-school scholarships



The London Multicultural Community Association (LMCA) with assistance from King’s University College, WIL Employment Connections and the Grand Theatre will give scholarships to high school immigrant students. The amount of each scholarship is $250.


An arm’s length selection committee will review the recommendations and will select the final list.


The student has to comply with the following criteria:


1) High-school student 

2) Immigrated from their home country no more than three years before submission of application 

3) Excellent academic record 

4) Excellent extracurricular/community/volunteering work 

5) How the scholarship will be used 

6) The socioeconomic situation of the student's family



The scholarships will be given during an LMCA event later this year.


We will require that the student will attend the event and will write a Thank You letter.

Alhamdulillah our community is blessed with a Madrasah that runs on Sundays from September to June. We teach children  Arabic, Quran, Deen (Jaffari school of thought) and Salat. Madrasah begins at 10:00am-2:00pm at Wheable (70 Jacqueline St.)
